Your UTV can get dirty fast. After all, you’re probably trekking through muddy trails. That’s why it’s important to know how to clean your rig. Keep reading to learn how you can keep your side-by-side clean in between rides. If you want to buy a new rig, call Sky Powersports Lakeland today. Pre-Soak the Mud and Scrape
You should start by finding a place to wash your UTV. Keep in mind that if you choose to clean your side-by-side in your driveway, you need to hose down the sidewalk to make sure you get as much grime down the drain as possible.
If your UTV is particularly muddy, You’ll probably need to scrape the mud or soak it off before you apply any soap. Use a plastic mud scraper to pull off chunks of dirt without scratching your UTV’s paint.
Pressure Washer
A pressure washer is a great tool to get any stubborn dirt off of your side-by-side after the initial soaking and scraping. Even at full power, the water shouldn’t damage your UTV. You want to try to get off as much grime as possible so you won’t be scrubbing by hand for hours.
Soap and Scrub
After your side-by-side is rinsed, use a wash mitt or sponge paired with bike soap or automotive detergent to scrub all the surfaces of your rig. Focus on the plastics, the seat, the wheels, and the frame. Use a stiff brush to drag out dirt and oil from those tiny nooks and crannies. Degreaser can also be useful for those spots that are particularly oily.
Dry It Off
If the weather is clear, you can just let your UTV air dry. If not, you can use a lint-free towel to dry off your side-by-side. If you have an air compressor, it can help you blast out all of the water from the crevices of your rig. This will save you plenty of time and effort!
Finishing Touches
To complete the UTV cleaning process, give your vehicle a good polish. A plastic polish is easy to spray on and will make your rig look brand new! Make sure you don’t get any on the seat since this can make things pretty slick. Now your side-by-side is ready to hit the trails and get muddy all over again!
